Pilgrims Bronte is opening soon, and we need you! We’re bringing fresh, healthy, vegetarian food to Sydney’s east and we’re looking for enthusiastic staff to join our team.

The Role

We’re searching for cooks to lead our vegetarian kitchen. The role is fast-paced and requires a strong level of organisation, so you’ll need to be a team player and work quickly and efficiently. Most importantly, you will be passionate about food!

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and serve vegetarian food from existing menus
  • Follow recipes and specifications, overseeing serving size, quality and presentation standards
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Oversee and manage kitchen operations and other kitchen staff
  • Clean and organise kitchen and equipment, adhering to hygiene and safety regulations
  • Preserve and store supplies in appropriate facilities
  • Inspect and maintain inventory and supplies, performing equipment maintenance as necessary
  • Support other team members to create an upbeat team environment
  • Enjoy the ride – we like to get to know our customers, team and community and have fun at work

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Friendly, honest, caring and positive approach
  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery – preferred
  • Previous experience working as a high-volume cook – 1-2 years minimum preferred
  • High level communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced team and stay calm under pressure
  • Knowledge of WHS procedures
  • Rights to work in Australia (no limit on hours)

Hours & Salary

  • Full time (38+ hours) positions available
  • Part-time (20+ hours) positions available
  • Weekend availability and early mornings are mandatory
  • Based in Bronte, Sydney
  • April 2020 start
  • $40,000 – $50,000 p.a. package depending on experience
